About Buenos Aires
The Paris of South America seduces families with passionate tango dancing, European architecture, world-class steaks, and warm Latin hospitality.
Buenos Aires was founded twice - first in 1536 by Spanish explorers, then permanently in 1580 after Indigenous resistance. The city's name means 'Fair Winds' or 'Good Airs' in Spanish. Buenos Aires grew wealthy in the late 1800s and early 1900s from beef and grain exports, becoming one of the world's richest cities. European immigrants, especially from Italy and Spain, flooded in, bringing their architecture, cuisine, and culture - including tango music and dance born in the city's working-class neighborhoods. Despite economic ups and downs, Buenos Aires maintains its sophisticated, passionate character. Families discover wide European-style boulevards, colorful neighborhoods like La Boca, amazing steaks and ice cream, and the infectious energy of tango in the streets. Argentine warmth toward children and love of soccer create a welcoming, lively atmosphere!
